Lead Data Architect (12-month contract)

Responsibilities:

• Understand the needs of business and the business vision. Articulate technology vision/roadmap and how is it applicable to business
• Provide Architectural leadership and vision for client’s Data Platform. Develop and maintain architectural roadmap for data platform, data products and data services plus ensuring alignment with the business and enterprise architecture strategies and standards
• Develop, present, and explain the value and vision of proposed data architectures and solutions to both business and IT stakeholders
• Contribute to the business strategies and roadmap development to meet business objectives with existing or emerging data technologies
• Contribute to client’s enterprise data architecture strategies and roadmaps
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and architectures that are robust, scalable, and supportable
• Lead the identification of technologies & tools for data platform
• Articulate technology solutions as well as explain the competitive advantages of various technology alternatives
• Engage with Data Platform users to understand their business needs and provide suggestions or guidance on what data platform techniques are appropriate to solve their problems with pros/cons articulated clearly
• Ensure adoption and implementation of defined platforms and solutions
• Build processes and tools to maintain high data availability, quality and maintainability
• Drive a target and consistent data architecture across the organization
• Define data architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices
• Develop and document architecture specifications that serve as the reference for engineering and execution
• Drive proof of concept initiatives. When needed, quickly design and implement a prototype of a system or component with a proper architecture.
• Identify business value through the use of data

Work Experience:

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required in related field; strong preference for fields of study in the engineering, computer science, statistics or analytics.
• Experienced technology leader with a minimum of 15+ years of software development experience including 10+ years of data application or data platform architecture experience with deep technology expertise in the following:
• Architecture design and development of large-scale data platforms and data solutions
• Expertise in design and management of complex data structures and data processes
• Expertise in metadata management, data processing, reference data management
• Expertise in streaming and batching data processing
• Deep knowledge and hands on experience on big data and cloud computing technologies
• Strong service architecture and development experience with high performance and scalability
• Experience in defining corporate-wide data strategy and data governance
• Extensive hands-on experience in designing and developing data models, integrating data from multiple sources, data flow design, building data pipelines for data platforms – data lake and data warehouse
• Experience in SQL, NoSql, Graph DB, Hadoop and Spark
• Familiar with one or more Architecture Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF etc.)
• Experience in operating architecture review board
• Keep up with the technology development in the related areas in the industry, which could be leveraged to enhance current architectures and build durable new ones
• Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interaction skills, including ability to effectively communicate architectural issues and concepts to multiple organization levels and executive management
