Actuarial Manager
Singapore
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the business units in the business planning in particular leading forecast of the key assumptions such as loss ratios, rate movement and retention ratios
- Adhere to relevant AP Policies and work with regional chief actuary to implement local pricing and reserving processes and procedures.
- Perform appropriate checks within processes to minimize inaccuracies
- Comply with documentation of key processes and policies
- Adhere to relevant Actuarial standards and good practice
- Meet all internal and external reporting requirements
- Assist analysis function in the business unit
- Responsible for submission of statutory returns and reports
- Develop and maintain monitoring and ad-hoc reports
- Manage projects to ensure timely delivery
- Sound understanding the operating and business environment and apply to actuarial activities including pricing, reserving, etc.
- Develop insight to support decision making by the business
- Responsible of the assumptions and processes of liabilities valuation and pricing for the Branch and provide insight to Monetary Authority of Singapore and Regional Chief Actuary
- Understanding industry trends and analyzing competitive position
- Deliver specific management information for Distribution and Products
- Construct and maintain databases, MI, reporting, consistency to support business analysis and planning
- Lead or co-lead reserving processes and pricing projects
- Use tools and perform tasks to support the following Actuarial activities:
Analytics
- Assist in development of strategy and business direction by contributing to planning and forecasting
- Develop and maintain data frameworks and tools that deliver reusable, scalable and flexible management info to meet business needs
Portfolio Management
- Build/deploy portfolio management platform and lead the continuous improvement of portfolio management techniques
- Implement monitoring reports and dashboards for purpose of underwriting, distribution and claims management
- Conduct technical analyses and regular reviews of portfolio performance against modeled results
Reserving
- Conduct insurance liability valuation estimates for Singapore operation with regional team
- Report to local management team, regional chief actuary and MAS on reserve findings and outcomes including discussion on experience analysis
Requirements
- General experience of working within the Actuarial function in a multinational financial services business
- Pricing and reserving of GI commercial business preferred
- MAS reporting
- Relevant tertiary qualifications with fellowship qualification of a recognized professional actuarial body preferred
- Understanding of industry practice in Actuarial analysis, modelling and underwriting
- Understanding of insurance business process
- Understanding of Monetary Authority of Singapore liability valuation and RBC requirements
- Understanding of Compliance issues
- Effective communication
- Able to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly
- Able to work independently
- Advanced Excel and other analytical tools
- Good skills in the use and interpretation of numerical data
- Ability to organize own work to meet deadlines
- Ability to work within defines procedures
